Apex Benazepril


Apex Benazepril Oral Solution is an Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitor indicated for the treatment of heart failure and chronic renal insufficiency in dogs.

Active ingredient

Benazepril Hydrochloride 5mg/mL

Actions

Apex Benazepril hydrochloride acts to inhibit angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) to prevent conversion of inactive angiotensin I into active angiotensin II. This results in vasodilation and elimination of sodium and water by the kidney.

Apex Benazepril Oral Solution generates long lasting inhibition of ACE in dogs, for 24 hours after a single dose.

Apex Benazepril Oral Solution may be given in combination therapy with diuretics, digoxin and antiarrhythmic drugs as necessary.

Indications

Apex Benazepril is indicated for the treatment of mitral regurgitation, dilated cardiomyopathy and chronic kidney disease in dogs.

Dosage and Administration

For oral administration only.
To be given once daily with or without food.

Dose:

0.25mg/kg body weight once daily.
For dogs with heart failure the dose may be doubled to 0.5 mg/kg body weight once daily if required. Please see the recommended dosage chart in the attached flyer.
